Two newbies at Block.

The new year has seen two new players join the Block team (with a third arriving in about a week - more on that later).

The first of our newbies isn't completely new to us. Carrolyn Hall has been a regular feature at 24 Brisbane Street for the last year or so and back in November we decided to formalise our relationship when she partnered with us to launch our social media offering called ChatterBlock. Things went so well that we thought we would take things to the next level. So as of January Carolyn is Block's Director of Business Strategy.

Carolyn is a major asset for our clients to tap into. Her brand planning credentials are very impressive.

Formerly, Carolyn was Brand and Communications Director of the Royal Automobile Club of Western Australia. Under her guidance, RAC achieved the coveted title of top ranking brand in 2007 and 2008 in the annual WA Business News branding survey. In 2008, Carolyn was also nominated as Ad Person of the Year by Campaign Brief, the only client to ever be nominated for this award.

Before RAC, she served as Senior Vice President for the McCann World Group, based in New York.

Speaking of New York, our new creative, Melita Masters, has just returned from six months in the Big Apple to land at our door. When we met Melita and learned that she holds both a journalism and a design degree, we knew she would be a perfect fit for our 'non-traditional' creative team. Being equally comfortable in the worlds of words and pictures makes Melita a particularly rare creature in the world of brand communications.

The combination of Melita's and Carolyn's skills can be seen in our recent campaign for Enjoy WA Wine.

2010 is shaping up to be a big year for Block, so stayed turned.
