Block honoured for arts support.

Block Branding was one of just six winners at the 14th annual WA Business & Arts Partnership Awards , which took place on Friday 12 October 2007 at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.

“It’s a really great win for us because it’s not just another advertising or design award. It’s an award that recognises agencies can make a real difference to the success of their clients when they form mutually beneficial partnerships with them,” says Mark Braddock, Creative Director at Block.

Block picked up this year’s award for Best Small or Medium-sized partnership as a result of its successful collaboration with four arts clients: photographer Bohdan Warchomij, Revelation Film Festival, Living Artists and Tura New Music.

The agency was the only creative business to be awarded for its support of the Western Australian arts industry. Other winners included major corporates such as Deloittes, the Insurance Commission of Western Australia and CBH Group of Companies.

The WA Business & the Arts Partnership Awards are judged by an elite selection of business executives and finalists are ranked according to their ability to deliver tangible, effective sponsorship results that bring the worlds of business, culture and arts closer together.

Over the past 18 months, Block has created striking promotional campaigns and brand identities for Revelation Film Festival, Tura New Music and Living Artists' Artopia, while designing a photography book for Bohdan Warchomij that documents the recent Orange Revolution in the Ukraine.

The prestigious WA Business & the Arts Partnership Awards were hosted by the Minister for Culture & the Arts Sheila McHale MLA, and Premier Alan Carpenter. The six winners were singled out “for the strength of their relationships and their commitment to keeping our State culturally vibrant,” said Ms McHale.

The award program attracted almost 200 nominations for 132 businesses, which partnered with 33 different arts companies. This equates to around $7.5 million in support of WA arts and culture.
