Block wins museum project.
Block has picked up a major project for one of Perth’s most prominent cultural destinations, the Western Australian Museum.
The Western Australian Museum has hired Block to conduct a strategic review of its brand, including brand identity, brand architecture/systems, communications and collateral.
This is a particularly significant project as the Western Australian Museum is one of Perth’s oldest cultural organizations with a history dating back to 1891.
“It’s a privilege to be working with an institution that has such a rich and proud heritage. The best projects are often the ones that leave an indelible mark on the city you live in, and it will be exciting to watch this one come to fruition,” says Kylie Telfer, head of strategy.
The win follows the launch of three major projects that are all playing a prominent role in Perth’s cultural and arts scene. Block recently unveiled a new brand for EPRA, which is responsible for redeveloping urban spaces, as well as a full suite of identities for The Breakwater restaurant, bar and function centre, which reopened officially on 11 December.
Block was also appointed to advise on branding for the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia, which is expected to become one of Perth’s most important performance spaces when it opens in 2009.
Block has already started working on a full strategic review of the Western Australian Museum’s brand, conducting an audit of existing brand collateral. Block is also running workshops with stakeholders to uncover fresh opportunities and gaps to guide the Museum’s long-term vision going forward.
The review is part of a major overhaul of the Museum’s communications strategy. In 2006, the Western Australian Museum introduced a six-year plan to reinvigorate the Museum, attract new audiences and retain its relevance to the local community. Block’s strategic recommendations will play a major role in this process.
